There are thousands of accommodation options in Pigeon Forge, including local hotels, hotel chains, cabins, timeshares and more. With so many options on where to stay for a first time visitor - here are our thoughts and what we did to experience as much as we could as a first time trip. Heading down to the Smoky Mountains for a week – we wanted to experience it all – including Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
First, after all was said and down – the family all agreed that while we enjoyed seeing both sides of the town … we preferred Pigeon Forge side of town, more spaced out, more attractions, more food options and plenty of free fun. With so many attractions that intrigued us, we chose a family owned hotel right in the middle of town vs. a cabin on our first go. Being in the middle of town, and within walking distance to the brand new Island – the “town center”, we found it a great place to end our days sitting in rocking chairs enjoying the dancing fountain! The Arbors Inn at The Island was like coming home – a local, family owned business that truly puts the emphasis on customer service and comfort! This emphasis was all the more apparent when we moved over to a “corporate” hotel chain in Gatlinburg for our last few nights – WOW – what a difference – that made us all a little homesick for our new friends at The Arbors!
The Arbors Inn at The Island has new ownership in the last few years and is undergoing a huge renovation/transformation – we found it reasonably priced and in a wonderful location with unique amenities. What caught our eye initially was the FAMILY spin on amenities, including FREE fishing rods, frisbees, volleyball, football, games, free nightly s’mores fixin’s around the firepit with live entertainment and SNACKS – including FRESH Krispy Kreme donuts (this hotel goes through nearly 18 dozen donuts per day), apples, cuties, pink lemonade and coffee/tea 24hrs/day! The shared balconies with classic wooden rocking chairs invited you to sit out and enjoy the evening with your neighbors. The heated pool, available 24/7, was another gathering place to enjoy the company of new friends! The whole experience is built around building relationships – which was really a unique twist to all of our past trips – and one that will bring us back to The Arbors again!! http://arborshotel.com/
